okay so say it’s like, christmas 2007, you’re however old you were at that point and your big gift that year is a brand-new PC with era-appropriate, high-end specs. what games would you want to have come with it? like what would you have immediately wanted to start playing on it?
knowing what i knew in 2007 i wouldve wanted star wars: the best of pc, the lego games, and i wouldn’tve been aware of much else. with the benefit of hindsight? oblivion, mass effect, the orange box, wow, maybe some strategy or city builders
ill probably do another year-end list but i havent actually consumed much content this year so any games/movies/shows/music you like/ you think i’d like, let me know and ill give it a go
would love to but the only content from this year I’ve consumed is the Sonic 2 movie, Fantastic Beasts 3, The Boys S3 and Park Chan-Wook’s new film, none of which I’m especially interested in passionately vouching for lol. NakeyJakey’s new album is a great time though
I’ve been listening to Horse Lords’ “Comradely Objects” on a loop for the last few hours, as I have a few times now. I still know nothing about them other than Tyler Wilcox saying they sounded like a cross between The Feelies and 75 Dollar Bill. He was right.
I’ve been playing iterations of it for years, but Downfall got released in May 2022 as semi-official free DLC that a normie Slay the Spire player (on Steam) can download without having to futz around with mods and the workshop, so I’m going to count it.
Anyway, it not only makes playable characters out of 7 of the enemies (and a 5th hero, for funsies), but totally flips the map, turning the Ironclad etc. into bosses, rewriting all the events, etc. If Mega Crit released it for $15 as official DLC, nobody would blink.

The best Star Trek this year has been the animated stuff, unless you
count The Orville.
Rick and Morty has been back on form this
season.
The 2nd season of Avenue 5, Armando Iannucci’s space comedy, felt very different. The first season was very unnerving with a delicious sense of dread. This one was more comedic feeling.
Couple more things: ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’ was very silly.
It’s been a while since I saw Walk Hard so I’m not sure how well it
stacks against it, but when it comes to parody musical biopics it’s
certainly in my top 2.
And the new Nickelback is just more
